to the nonbinary baddie who hugged me in front of the hachiko statue, and others by Mirya S. Chua

always we're here for a reason always
it's chemistry more always it's alcohol
always it's magic always we've come up
from each our old countries always each
alone together always down the road
      with our luggage rattling always
our sun hats pillioning in the heat
always we've left pets behind more always
      workplaces families loved things always
there will be some small love always
we will participate always in genuinity
always with you with the pretty glasses
and always you with the smile and always
you too and you with the rest of your prettiness
and always we will all be sticking always
thumbs out at the side of a dark road again
always we'll share a cab again always
we'll cling to each other again always
thirsting again always we'll compare feelings
always we'll conspire on leather seats always
I'll write this down again someday always for the road
before it gets dark always we'll try again
always it's damn close to dawn always
we'll laugh always we'll be here
perhaps minus one or two teeth in a few years always
but with no less joy always
yes always with some joy aye yes
always we will be here all
for the long haul for all
the same always all over this
with all of us again always
